An integrating sphere, also known as a light flux sphere or photometric sphere, is a hollow complete spherical shell with its inner wall coated with highly reflective material. The integrating sphere can uniformly diffuse the input light from a light source through multiple reflections on the inner wall, functioning as a Lambertian light source. The illuminance at any point on the sphere wall is the superposition of illuminance generated by multiple reflected light beams. Depending on the paired photometric measurement equipment, integrating spheres can be used to test parameters such as the luminous flux, color temperature, and luminous efficacy of light sources, as well as to measure the reflectance and transmittance of objects. Meanwhile, LBTEK offers various accessories compatible with integrating spheres.

Parallel light emitted after collimation by the light source enters the transmission/reflection integrating sphere, undergoes multiple diffuse reflections, and finally exits uniformly from the output port. By detecting the luminous flux at the output port, data such as reflectance and transmittance can be calculated. The output port uniformity of LBTEK transmission/reflection integrating sphere is better than 0.1%. It is mainly used to measure the optical transmission/reflectance of materials with strong diffuse scattering, suitable for measuring the transmission/reflectance of mobile phone screens, displays, glass lenses, adhesives, inks, coated lenses, etc. The top of the LBTEK transmission/reflection integrating sphere has a sampling port, providing an SMA fiber interface, and the bottom of the transmission/reflection integrating sphere comes with 4×M3 threaded holes for mounting in free space using optical posts; the back has 2×M3 threaded holes for locking the inner wall of the integrating sphere.

General Purpose Integrating Spheres

The LBTEK General Purpose Integrating Sphere features a high-reflectivity diffuse reflective coating on its inner wall, with reserved sampling ports. Light entering the cavity undergoes multiple diffuse reflections to form a uniform illumination field, enabling stable measurement of key optical indicators such as luminous flux, color temperature, and luminous efficacy of Light Sources. The product offers high flexibility in selection: cavity size, number of openings, and inner wall reflective coating can be customized as needed. The openings are designed with a standardized layout: the 3-opening version has openings arranged at 0° and 90° on the equator, with an additional north pole opening at the top; the 4-opening version adds a set of 180° openings opposite the 0° port. The entire series comes standard with a baffle (placed between the 0° and 90° openings) to block direct light from the Light Source to the Detectors port, reducing measurement deviation caused by direct light. The product can be configured with various Optical Components to meet customized measurement needs for different scenarios.

General Purpose Integrating Sphere Accessories
  • The inner wall reflective coating of integrating sphere accessories can be selected from three processes: sintered PTFE, painted PTFE, and gold-plated

LBTEK General Purpose Integrating Sphere Accessories include three types of components: input port plugs, fiber optic adapters, and power meter adapters. The integrating sphere input port plug is used to seal unused ports on the sphere, compatible with 0.5/1/1.5 inch port sizes. The inner wall diffuse reflective coating supports three processes: sintered PTFE, painted PTFE, and gold-plated. When in use, it must match the coating of the integrating sphere body, effectively blocking ambient stray light and dust from entering the sphere cavity while also improving the overall light collection performance of the integrating sphere. The compatible fiber optic interface adapters are available in SMA and FC/PC fiber connector types, offering 0.5/1 inch port sizes. The internal diffuse reflective coating uses the same process as the sphere coating, and with the included four M2.5 cross round head screws, it can be securely installed on the integrating sphere port. The power meter adapter is equipped with SM1 internal threads​ and is available in a 1-inch size​ (with 1.5-inch sizes available for customization). The inner wall diffuse reflective material is fully compatible with the integrating sphere, allowing direct connection to LBTEK PM series optical power meter probes for quick optical path setup and optical power measurement.
