LBTEK offers two major series: electro-optic phase modulators and electro-optic amplitude modulators, both of which realize optical signal modulation based on the electro-optic effect (Pockels effect). Electro-optic phase modulators achieve modulation by changing the phase of light waves. The resonant type can effectively reduce the half-wave voltage and achieve a high modulation depth. Among them, low-frequency models are widely used for low-frequency modulation requirements such as PDH frequency stabilization, while high-frequency models (~GHz) are widely used in experiments such as Quantum Technologies physics and atomic and molecular physics; the broadband type can operate at any frequency from DC to 100 MHz. Electro-optic amplitude modulators are broadband type and consist of two electro-optic crystals. The drive voltage is directly applied across both ends of the crystals, and the half-wave voltage is on the order of one hundred volts and several hundred volts. By applying voltage, the propagation characteristics of light waves in electro-optic materials are changed to achieve amplitude or polarization modulation. They are widely used in fields such as optical communication, Quantum Technologies information processing, and optical experiments. When in use, they can be paired with an external high-voltage driver, or a combination scheme of "low-voltage signal source + power amplifier" can be adopted to achieve flexible driving. EOMs have important applications in fields such as optical communication, optical sensing, Quantum Technologies information processing, and optical frequency combs. This product can be customized with a temperature control kit. For specific custom requirement, please contact LBTEK technical support. Except for the broadband electro-optic amplitude modulator, all products on this detail page have single-ended wedge-angle output. If wedge-angle output is not required, please contact LBTEK technical support.
Resonant Electro-Optic Phase Modulator
  • Three operating wavelength ranges: 450-800nm, 800-1350nm, 1000-1650nm
  • Resonant frequency: 20MHz
  • SMA RF modulation input connector

LBTEK's resonant electro-optic phase modulator (EOPM) is a device that achieves optical signal phase modulation based on the electro-optic effect and optical resonant cavity principle. This modulator selects lithium niobate with outstanding performance as the electro-optic crystal material. When an electric field is applied to the crystal, its refractive index changes, thereby generating a phase modulation effect on the optical signal passing through the crystal. The EOPM has a clear aperture of 3 mm and uses an SMA signal interface. Additionally, depending on the laser incidence direction, it offers flexible choices between horizontal and vertical polarization orientations, providing high adaptability for various application scenarios.

High-Frequency Resonant Electro-Optic Phase Modulator
  • Three operating wavelengths: 350-700 nm, 400-800 nm, 650-1100 nm
  • Resonant frequency: covers 2 GHz-14.75 GHz
  • Tunable resonant frequency

LBTEK's high-frequency resonant electro-optic phase modulators are based on the electro-optic effect and optical resonant cavity principles to achieve optical signal phase modulation. Utilizing the resonance principle, resonant electro-optic phase modulators can effectively reduce the half-wave voltage and increase the modulation depth. The resonant frequency of the EOPMR series high-frequency resonant electro-optic phase modulators is adjustable and can be tuned via the adjustment knob on the device. The signal interface type is SMA. The bottom of the device features M4 threaded holes for easy mounting onto posts. The polarization direction of the incident light must align with the label on the input end.

Note: Compatible drivers can be selected at the bottom of this product detail page.

High-Frequency Electro-Optic Modulator Driver
  • Maximum output power: 35dBm
  • Controllable via TTL
  • Includes signal source and amplifier, high integration

The High-Frequency Electro-Optic Modulator Driver HF-EOMD provided by LBTEK is mainly used for high-frequency EOMs and can drive the EOMPR series of electro-optic modulators. The driver integrates a signal source and an amplifier internally, offering high integration. Depending on the compatible EOM, the signal source can generate frequency signals from 1 GHz to 15 GHz, which are amplified by the amplifier to a maximum output of 35 dBm.

Note:

The output frequency of this product's driver is limited by the internal amplifier's bandwidth. When shipped from the factory, the operating frequency range of the driver will be preset according to the customer's actual application requirements.

Please specify the operating frequency and required modulation power of the electro-optic modulator (EOM) when placing an order. We will then configure the optimal driving output range (typical configuration: "center frequency ± 50 MHz"). If not specified, the frequency cannot be arbitrarily adjusted beyond the amplifier's bandwidth after shipment. Please be aware of this.
