G&H Acousto-optic Modulators (AOMs) include two main categories: fiber-coupled AOMs and free-space AOMs, with operating wavelengths covering from ultraviolet (257nm) to near-infrared (2000nm) bands, meeting diverse customer needs. They feature advantages such as short rise time (nanosecond level), wide modulation bandwidth range, high damage threshold, and high extinction ratio (up to 50dB). By dynamically controlling beam intensity, frequency, direction, and phase, AOMs enable functions like laser switching, frequency shifting, beam scanning, and Q-switching. The fiber-coupled acousto-optic modulator (AOM) is an optoelectronic device that combines acousto-optic modulation with fiber coupling technology. It features high optical integration, strong transmission stability, and compatibility with fiber optic systems, making it widely applicable in fiber optic communications, lidar, optical sensing, and precision optical instruments. LBTEK's G&H fiber-coupled AOM offers an insertion loss as low as 2 dB, a maximum operating frequency of up to 300 MHz, and a rise time as short as 6 ns. The main function of the radio frequency (RF) driver for an acousto-optic modulator is to generate RF signals with specific frequencies, power levels, and waveforms to modulate the light beam. LBTEK offers RF drivers with various frequencies that can be paired with different acousto-optic modulators. Three modulation modes are provided: digital, analog, and analog+digital. The modulation mode determines how the applied RF power varies, thereby controlling the intensity of the diffracted light. In digital modulation, the RF power is turned on/off via TTL signals, controlling whether the beam is diffracted. In analog modulation, the RF power is controlled by applying a voltage within a specified range, enabling precise control of diffraction efficiency and waveform shaping.
