Product Description
The torque wrenches provided by LBTEK offer more stable installation for high-performance opto-mechanical systems. It is crucial to tighten screws to the appropriate torque with consistency and repeatability, as over-torquing can easily cause stress-induced deformation of mirror surfaces, increased wavefront error, birefringence in lenses, and permanent deformation due to creep in mechanical components, all of which affect performance. The torque range of the OTD-K15 is suitable for securing optical components without applying excessive force; in most applications, the torque used to fasten optical components into mounts with screws should only reach about 2 cN·m. Too little torque may result in loose optical components, while excessive torque can cause deformation or damage. The torque range of the OTD-K60 is ideal for building opto-mechanical systems, as applying the correct torque ensures that the system is assembled according to repeatable standards and eliminates the risk of components becoming loose or over-tightened. The DBT-HW includes nine specifications: 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm, 3.0 mm, 4.0 mm, 5.0 mm, 6.0 mm, 8.0 mm, and 10.0 mm.

LBTEK's torque wrenches provide more stable installation for high-performance opto-mechanical systems. Too little torque will cause Optical Components to be too loose, and excessive torque will cause Optical Components to deform or be damaged. The torque range of OTD-K15 is suitable for securing Optical Components without applying excessive force; the torque range of OTD-K60 is suitable for building opto-mechanical systems. Applying appropriate torque to components ensures the system is built to repeatable standards and eliminates the risk of components becoming loose or being over-tightened.
Main operating steps: 1. Loosen the locking mechanism: Rotate the locking mechanism at the end of the handle counterclockwise (to the left) to the "FREE" position to allow torque adjustment; 2. Set the torque value: Hold the knurled part of the main scale barrel, rotate the handle, and observe the alignment of the secondary scale ring with the main scale line. First rotate the handle to align the upper end of the secondary scale ring (or the specified reference line) with the main scale, then fine-tune so that the "0" position line of the secondary scale aligns with the baseline of the main scale. The torque adjustment range of OTD-K15 is 2-15 cN·m (approximately equivalent to 0.2-1.5 kgf·cm), and the torque adjustment range of OTD-K60 is 10-60 cN·m (approximately equivalent to 1-6 kgf·cm); 3. Lock the locking mechanism: After setting the desired torque value, rotate the locking mechanism clockwise (to the right) until tight. This step is important to prevent the torque value from changing unexpectedly during use; 4. Install the bit: Insert the selected hex bit (sold below) into the hex hole at the head of the torque wrench, press the bit firmly until its groove is engaged by the internal steel ball, ensuring secure installation and preventing it from falling off; 5. Perform the tightening operation: Align the bit with and insert it into the screw slot, smoothly and evenly rotate the handle clockwise to apply torque. When the torque reaches the preset value, you will hear a clear "click", and the handle will begin to idle (slip). At this point, stop applying force immediately; the tightening operation is complete.

Using the appropriate hex bit can secure hex socket screws of different specifications.

Hex Bit Set

LBTEK organizes and packages hex bits of different specifications into a set, which is compatible with our OTD-K15 and OTD-K60 torque wrenches as well as traditional 1/4" socket wrenches. The specifications of the hex bits in the kit correspond to commonly used hex socket screws, making it very suitable for use in production lines, optical laboratories, and other scenarios that require frequent switching between different torque settings. The hex bits in the DBT-HW set feature different colors and engraved specifications for easy identification and use.

Each hex bit has different colors and engraving specifications for easy identification and use.

SM Thread Retaining Ring Spanner Drill Bit
  • Drill bits available for SM05, SM1, SM2
  • Fits all standard 1/4-inch hex sockets

Wrench bits provided by LBTEK can install and adjust SM threaded retaining rings without damaging Optical Components. They feature a standard 1/4-inch hex shank and are compatible with manual screwdrivers. If the bit is used with a power drill, care should be taken to avoid over-tightening the retaining ring due to the increased torque from the tool. When using power tools, be sure to select the low-speed mode, and we recommend completing the final tightening by hand.
