Position-Sensing Detector (PSD) can provide real-time information on the position change of the incident laser, allowing observation of object vibration through the change in laser position. LBTEK offers two types of PSD: Lateral Effect Position Detector and Quadrant Position Detector. The Lateral Effect Position Detector is a two-dimensional PSD that determines the position by proportionally distributing the photocurrent using a resistive element; the Quadrant Position Detector consists of four quadrant-shaped photodiodes (PD), and the position of the input beam is measured by comparing the light intensity in each quadrant. PSD provides a precise solution for measuring displacement (including motion, distance, or angle) and providing feedback for alignment systems such as mirror control, Microscope focusing, and Optical Fiber emission systems.

LBTEK's lateral effect position detectors determine position by proportionally distributing photocurrent using a resistive element, unaffected by beam shape, and provide the spot center's position information as long as the beam is on the detector. Two detector options are available: PSD-S09 operates in the 300-1100 nm range, suitable for beams with a diameter of <9 mm; PSD-G07 operates in the 800-1700 nm range, suitable for beams with a diameter of <7 mm. However, to prevent beam wander, we recommend a beam diameter of 0.2-4.5 mm for PSD-S09 and 0.2-3.5 mm for PSD-G07. The product's mechanical housings have one M4 threaded hole on both the bottom and top, facilitating mounting of the detector onto a post. Each detector comes with a ±12 V linear power supply.

Note: This series product includes an SM1 internal thread adapter ring, which can also be removed during use (the adapter ring is included in both STEP and PDF Docs).

Four-quadrant position detector

Adjustable Gain / Fixed Gain

The LBTEK PSDQ series four-quadrant position detectors cover a wavelength range from ultraviolet to mid-infrared (190 nm–12 μm), and are available in Fixed Gain and Adjustable Gain versions. The Adjustable Gain model offers 4 adjustable gain levels to meet detection requirements under different light intensities, with a sensor size up to Φ16 mm. The Fixed Gain version has a bandwidth up to 400 MHz. Both the bottom and top of the product's mechanical housing are equipped with one M4 threaded hole, making it convenient to mount the detector on a post. Each detector comes with a ±12 V linear power supply.

The four-quadrant position detector determines spot displacement by comparing the optical power received by four independent quadrants. The position result is affected by factors such as spot size, beam shape, quadrant gap, channel consistency, and light intensity stability. Therefore, the four-quadrant position detector is suitable for laser alignment, beam stabilization, vibration monitoring, auto-collimation, and Optical Table feedback.

Note: This series of products comes with an SM1 internal thread sleeve, which can also be removed during use (both the STEP file and PDF file include this sleeve).
