LBTEK Quartz Vortex Retarder is fabricated from a UVFS substrate utilizing induced birefringent micro-nano structures within the quartz, provided as a 1-inch single-substrate bare optic without housing. Within the substrate, the fast axis orientation of the birefringent microstructure exhibits a continuous rotational distribution in the angular direction, with a uniform λ/2 retardance across the entire aperture, making it a single-wavelength device. The quartz vortex retarder exhibits polarization-dependent optical properties: when circularly polarized light is incident, it generates a vortex beam with a helical phase wavefront (with the output circular polarization handedness reversed); when linearly polarized light is incident, it generates a vector polarized beam. Compared to conventional spiral phase plates, the quartz vortex retarder efficiently generates vortex beams through precise polarization manipulation, offering greater flexibility. Its flat plate structure with no physical surface relief allows for easy integration. Compared to polymer-based vortex retarders, it is applicable in the UV wavelength range, and the substrate material selection ensures a high LIDT under UV irradiation. LBTEK offers standard quartz vortex retarders with an operating wavelength λ of 355 nm and topological charge m of 1, and also supports flexible customization of specifications to meet users' diverse requirements across different applications.
