LBTEK Retaining Rings are made from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy or 304 stainless steel, with a black anodized surface finish. The symmetrical slots are compatible with spanner wrenches. They are used in mechanical components with SM thread specifications to secure optical elements using retaining rings of the same specification. Currently, LBTEK offers five models of retaining rings: SM05, SM1, SM1.5, SM2, and SM30. They can meet customer needs for installing and securing optical elements with diameters of Ø12.7 mm, Ø25.4 mm, Ø38.1 mm, Ø50.8 mm, and Ø30 mm. They are available for purchase in packs of 10. Stress-Free Retaining Ring

        LBTEK stress-free retaining rings offer multiple thread specifications, covering standard SM05, SM1, SM1.5, SM2, and SM3 models to accommodate different optical component installation needs. The product features a nitrile rubber O-ring design. Compared to standard retaining rings, stress-free retaining rings require less force to secure optical components. This method effectively reduces stress damage on the optical component surface while achieving reliable optical sealing around the component, balancing protection and fixation stability.
        The retaining rings retain a dual-groove structure and are directly compatible with LBTEK's spanner wrenches, enabling convenient and efficient installation and removal. It should be noted that due to the built-in rubber O-ring, the clear aperture is slightly smaller than that of standard retaining rings. Actual selection can refer to the corresponding specifications. Additionally, since the O-ring is elastic and installed via compression, the actual thickness may vary by ±0.1 mm from the labeled thickness.

The stress-free retaining ring is installed on the fixed mounting bracket.

The SM05 retaining ring from LBTEK is manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy with a black anodized surface finish. The peripheral groove is compatible with OWR-05A retaining ring key for securing Ø12.7 mm optical components. Typically, two retaining rings are used in lens tubes or coaxial mounts, one for positional fixation and the other for firmly clamping the optical component.

The SM05R retaining ring is used for the fixed lens mount FLF05A.
