Product Description
  • Used as an optical switch or variable attenuator
  • Applicable to laser marking, lithography, material processing, medical surgery, micro-machining
  • RF drivers and power supplies matched with acousto-optic modulators available
LBTEK acousto-optic modulators operate under the Bragg diffraction condition, producing only the first-order diffracted beam and the transmitted beam. They can be used as optical switches (periodically turning the beam on and off at a set frequency) or as variable attenuators (dynamically controlling the intensity of the transmitted or first-order diffracted beam). Typical applications include laser marking, photolithography, materials processing, medical surgery, and micromachining. LBTEK offers both free-space and fiber-coupled acousto-optic modulators, allowing users to select the configuration best suited to their application. Matching RF drivers are available; by inputting different modulation signals, the driver can generate the required waveform. Custom acousto-optic modulators are also available. For customization requests, technical inquiries, or accessory recommendations, please contact LBTEK Technical Support.

LBTEK Acousto-Optic Modulators can be configured for use as optical switches (periodically switching the light on and off at a set frequency) or as variable attenuators (dynamically controlling the intensity of the transmitted beam or first-order diffracted beam).
Note that these devices generate heat during operation and must be mounted on components with good thermal conductivity or used with an appropriate heatsink.
LBTEK offers acousto-optic modulators designed for operation at 355 nm, 450 nm, 532 nm, 780 nm, and 1040–1080 nm, with matched RF drivers and power supplies available as optional accessories.

RF Driver
  • RF signal frequency: 80 MHz, 100 MHz
  • High stability, high precision
  • RF signal output port: SMA-F

LBTEK RF Drivers provide highly stable and precise RF signals. By applying different modulation signals, the driver can generate specific waveforms to meet the requirements of optical devices in various applications. These RF drivers are primarily designed for driving acousto-optic modulators. LBTEK offers models operating at 80 MHz and 100 MHz. The input interface is DB9, with an SMA-F output.

Each driver comes with a complimentary cable, featuring a DB9 connector on one end and bare wires on the other, allowing easy connection to the user’s power supply and signal generator. Wire mapping: red = +24 V power, black = ground, blue = digital control, green = analog control. For any technical inquiries, please contact LBTEK Technical Support.

Note: LBTEK RF drivers do not include power supplies or modulation signal generators. For accessory recommendations, please consult LBTEK Technical Support.

Acousto-optic modulator, free-space type, water-cooled
  • Operating Wavelength: 1040 nm-1080 nm
  • Incident Light Polarization: Linear polarization, perpendicular to the base
  • Diffraction Efficiency: ≥80%
  • High Damage Threshold
  • Water Cooling Interface Size: Ø6 mm

LBTEK acousto-optic modulators can be used as optical switches (periodically turning the light on and off at a set frequency) or as variable attenuators (dynamically controlling the intensity of transmitted light or first-order diffracted light). To achieve optimal diffraction efficiency, the device requires relatively high drive power. Since conductive cooling is insufficient under these conditions, the modulators adopt a water-cooling design and must be operated with a chiller.

LBTEK offers acousto-optic modulators with an operating wavelength range of 1040 nm–1080 nm, and provides optional supporting accessories including RF drivers, chillers, and power supplies.
