The NBS 1963A resolution test target is fabricated by coating low-reflectance chromium film on soda-lime glass. Each group of lines in the pattern consists of five horizontal lines and five vertical lines, labeled with line frequencies in cycles/mm. Both types of resolution test targets include five horizontal lines and five vertical lines, totaling 26 groups, corresponding to line widths ranging from 1 mm to 55.6 µm. The resolution test targets consist of positive (bright field) and negative (dark field) versions. The positive resolution test target features a chrome coating on a soda-lime glass substrate, allowing light transmission through the non-patterned areas. The negative resolution test target has a chrome coating on the substrate, enabling light transmission through the patterned areas.
