Product Description
  • Optical element material: soda-lime glass
  • Resolution: 1.25-250 lp/mm
  • Commonly used for testing imaging system resolution
LBTEK Variable Line Grating consists of a series of parallel dark lines with a line width equal to the spacing between adjacent lines. In any given grating, one dark line together with its adjacent clear space forms a single line pair. The resolution of an optical system is determined by its ability to distinguish adjacent line pairs. Accordingly, grating resolution is defined as the number of line pairs per unit length, typically expressed in line pairs per millimeter (lp/mm). Each section of the variable line grating has a different resolution. By determining the highest spatial frequency at which the optical system can still resolve individual line pairs, users can evaluate the resolution of the system. Variable line gratings are essential test patterns in optical system evaluation, with wide applications ranging from fringe projection measurements to Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) characterization of electro-optical systems. LBTEK also offers customization resolution test targets upon request. For special requirements, please contact LBTEK Technical Support.

NBS 1963A Resolution test target, 50.8×50.8 mm
  • Material: Soda-lime glass
  • Size: 50.8×50.8 mm
  • Resolution: 1-18 lp/mm

LBTEK offers 50.8×50.8 mm positive and negative NBS 1963A resolution test targets. Both types of resolution test targets include five horizontal lines and five vertical lines, totaling 26 groups, corresponding to line widths ranging from 1 mm to 55.6 µm. The resolution test targets consist of positive (bright field) and negative (dark field) versions. The positive resolution test target features a chrome coating on a soda-lime glass substrate, allowing light transmission through the non-patterned areas. The negative resolution test target has a chrome coating on the substrate, enabling light transmission through the patterned areas. Variable Line Grating Resolution Test Target
  • Optical element material: soda-lime glass
  • Dimensions: 76.2×25.4 mm
  • Both positive and negative test targets available

The LBTEK variable line grating resolution ranges from 1.25 lp/mm to 250 lp/mm. This test target is primarily used to verify the resolution of optical systems, enabling comprehensive analysis across the entire frequency range rather than just measuring the highest line pairs. The resolution test target includes both positive (bright field) and negative (dark field) resolution test targets. The positive resolution test target features chrome plating on a soda-lime glass substrate, allowing light transmission through the non-patterned areas. The negative resolution test target, on the other hand, has chrome plating on the substrate, enabling light transmission through the patterned areas. For other customization requirements, please contact technical support.
