Plano-concave cylindrical lenses have one flat surface and one cylindrical surface, featuring a negative focal length. Unlike spherical lenses, cylindrical lenses act on the light beam in only one direction. Cylindrical lenses are commonly used for beam shaping, with typical applications including collimation using dual cylindrical lens pairs and circularizing the output beam of laser diodes. To minimize spherical aberration, when using plano-concave cylindrical lenses to diverge a collimated beam into a spot, the beam should be incident on the curved surface of the lens. LBTEK chooses to manufacture various lenses using N-BK7, the most common lens material widely used in visible and near-infrared applications.
LBTEK offers uncoated plano-concave cylindrical lenses as well as lenses with three types of anti-reflection coatings: 400-700 nm, 700-1100 nm, and 1100-1650 nm. All our lenses are precision-engineered with strict quality control, ensuring that LBTEK provides high-quality lens products at reasonable prices.
Unlike spherical lenses, cylindrical lenses act on the light beam in only one direction. LBTEK plano-concave circular cylindrical lenses are ideal for one-dimensional magnification applications. Typical applications include collimation and circularization of laser diode output beams using a pair of cylindrical lenses. Unlike standard plano-concave lenses, plano-concave circular cylindrical lenses are mounted in a 25.4 mm diameter mechanical housing, allowing for easy integration with LBTEK SM1 lens tubes or 25.4 mm lens mounts.
