LBTEK Polarization Grating (PG) is fabricated from liquid crystal polymer (LCP) birefringent material and N-BK7 glass substrates, featuring a sandwich structure with front and rear glass substrates and a central LCP functional layer, no housing with a single flat edge. In the LCP layer, the fast axis orientation of the liquid crystal molecules exhibits a periodic continuous gradient along the x-direction, with a uniform λ/2 retardance across the entire element plane, making it a single-wavelength element. The polarization grating features polarization-dependent optical properties; depending on the polarization state of the incident beam, it enables beamsplitting with an adjustable energy ratio or non-mechanical beam steering. Compared to conventional gratings, the polarization grating introduces polarization modulation functionality; its planar structure with no physical surface relief facilitates integration; and it has an extremely low zero-order fraction with very high diffraction efficiency. LBTEK offers standard polarization gratings with optional operating wavelengths λ from 488 to 1550 nm and grating periods p of 5 or 8 μm, while also supporting flexible customization of specifications to meet diverse application requirements. LBTEK 5 or 8 μm Polarization Gratings feature a clear aperture of Ø20 mm with selectable operating wavelengths from 400 to 1550 nm. Depending on the polarization state of the incident light, they enable beamsplitting with adjustable ratios and beam steering. At the same phase period, polarization gratings with different operating wavelengths produce different beam deflection angles at their respective wavelengths. All products in this group guarantee a diffraction efficiency of > 98%.
