Product Description
  • Wide Operating Wavelength Range, Broad Adjustable Attenuation Range
  • Supports Single-mode and Multi-mode Fiber Applications
  • Low Insertion Loss, High Return Loss
  • Available in both Digital and Electric Versions
LBTEK offers compact adjustable fiber attenuators designed for real-time signal control by attenuating optical power. These devices boast a wide attenuation range, high resolution, and rapid response. They are compatible with single-mode (non-PM/PM) and multi-mode fiber applications. Single-mode fiber attenuators utilize a novel blocking attenuation technique, whereas multi-mode fiber attenuators incorporate variable neutral density filter attenuation technology to effectively minimize mode-dependent loss. Featuring low insertion loss and high return loss, these adjustable fiber attenuators are suitable for measuring photonic devices, optical passive components, fibers, cables, and fiber optic communication equipment. LBTEK provides both digital and electric adjustable fiber attenuator options, enabling users to select based on their specific requirements. Digitally Adjustable Optical Fiber Attenuator
  • Single-Mode/Polarization-Maintaining Single-Mode Fiber Attenuation Range IL-60 dB
  • Low Insertion Loss, High Return Loss
  • Digital Control, Equipped with LCD Display
LBTEK's digital variable optical attenuators employ a blocking mechanism (for single-mode/polarization-maintaining single-mode fibers) or a variable neutral density filter mechanism (for multimode fibers), with attenuation levels adjusted via a microcontroller that precisely controls the speed and accuracy of the internal stepper motor. The LBTEK digital variable attenuator is a handheld device equipped with an LCD display and a user-friendly interface, allowing direct input of wavelength and attenuation levels via a keypad, as well as computer-based attenuation control through the built-in USB interface. The LBTEK digital variable optical attenuator comes with a USB cable and power adapter, but does not include optical fibers. It is recommended to use the digital variable attenuator at calibrated wavelengths, with an operational wavelength range of 350-2050 nm. For more details, please consult LBTEK technical support.

Electrically Adjustable Optical Attenuator
  • Single-Mode/Polarization-Maintaining Single-Mode Fiber Attenuation Range IL-60, Multimode fiber Attenuation Range IL-40 dB
  • Low Insertion Loss, High Return Loss
  • Electric Adjustment, Equipped with Two-Phase Stepper Motor
The LBTEK electrically adjustable fiber optic attenuator adopts a blocking-type (single-mode/polarization-maintaining single-mode fiber) or variable neutral density filter-type (multimode fiber) attenuation mechanism. It utilizes an embedded microcontroller-driven circuit to control the internal stepper motor for adjusting the attenuation level. The motor is a two-phase stepper motor with a resolution of 7.5°/step. The motor is connected to a backlash-reducing gear, which reduces the motor's movement to 0.01546°/step, resulting in an attenuator resolution of 0.01 dB. The attenuator features a built-in RS-232 interface for computer-controlled operation, allowing users to access and control it via a 16-pin Hirose connector and communication cable. The LBTEK electrically adjustable fiber optic attenuator comes with a communication cable and RJ-11/DB-9 adapters, including optical fibers. It is recommended to use the electrically adjustable attenuator at calibrated wavelengths, with an operational wavelength range of 400–1625 nm.
