LBTEK Planar Axicon (PB Axicon, PBA) is fabricated from an N-BK7 glass substrate and Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) material, featuring a sandwich structure of front and rear glass substrates with an LCP functional layer in between. In the LCP layer, the fast axis orientation of the liquid crystal molecules exhibits a constant-period gradient distribution along the radial direction of the substrate, and the device exhibits a uniform λ/2 retardance across the entire element plane, making it a single-wavelength device. The planar axicon features polarization-dependent optical properties. Depending on the polarization state of the incident beam, it can achieve annular convergence or divergence of the beam. When the incident light is left-handed circularly polarized, it can simultaneously generate Bessel beams with non-diffracting and self-healing properties. Compared with conventional axicons, LBTEK Planar Axicon has a planar structure without a physical cone tip, making it easier to integrate. Additionally, the structural formation of the cone tip region relies on the orientation variation of liquid crystal molecules, achieving micrometer-scale fabrication precision. It also exhibits large dispersion characteristics. LBTEK offers 1-inch planar axicon standard products at operating wavelengths λ = 532 nm, 633 nm, and 1064 nm, with deflection angles (half-angles) of 0.5°, 1°, 2.0°, 2.3°, and 4.7°.
