LBTEK's Quartz Air-Spaced Zero-Order Quarter-Wave Plates are constructed by two crystalline quartz plates with an internal spacer. The fast axes of the two plates are oriented orthogonally, resulting in a net retardance of π/2, which is commonly used to convert linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light. Compared with cemented quartz zero-order wave plates, the air-spaced design utilizes a spacer to create an air gap, making it suitable for higher-power laser applications. LBTEK offers mounted quartz zero-order quarter-wave plates with clear apertures of Ø10.0 mm and Ø20.0 mm, as well as unmounted versions with clear apertures of Ø10.0 mm and Ø45.0 mm. The Ø10.0 mm mounted versions are available with either 1-inch or SM05-threaded mounts, while the Ø20.0 mm mounted versions are provided with either 1-inch or SM1-threaded mounts. In addition, LBTEK offers Quartz True Zero-Order Quarter-Wave Plates and Polymer True Zero-Order Quarter-Wave Plates, which exhibit lower sensitivity to wavelength shifts and incident angle variations. Beyond our standard quartz zero-order quarter-wave plates, LBTEK offers comprehensive custom capabilities, including specialized dimensions, operating wavelengths, and tailored retardance values. LBTEK's Zero-Order Quarter-Wave Plates feature low temperature sensitivity and provide a λ/4 retardance, making them ideal for converting linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light. Wave plates with SM05-threaded mounts are housed in a black-anodized SM05-8A lens tube. The housing end-face is engraved with a reference line indicating the fast axis direction, while the outer circumference is marked with the part number, retardance, and design wavelength.

These mounted wave plates can be integrated into optical systems via SM05 internal or external threads. Within the mount, the wave plate is secured by an SM05R retaining ring and an O-ring; it can be removed from the housing using an OWR-05A spanner wrench. The edge of the unmounted wave plate is marked with a pencil line to indicate the fast axis.

Note: For long-term operation in UV high-power applications, LBTEK recommends custom wave plates with stainless steel housings.
