Product Description
  • Two orthogonally polarized light beams obtained at the transmission end when the non-polarized light is incident, with an extinction ratio up to 100,000:1.
  • Bonded with the adhesive when the material is calcite, optical contact process adopted when the material is α-BBO.
  • Pre-installed in a black anodized mechanical housing that is non-detachable. SM1 external threads engraved on one end of the housing with retaining rings for reverse locking and prism polarization direction control; with an optical arm on the other end both compatible with the LBTEK mounts.
The Wollaston crystal polarizing prism can be used to output the linearly polarized light with high extinction ratios. To meet customers' needs for different wavelength bands, the LBTEK Wollaston Crystal Polarizing Prisms are composed of two identical negative uniaxial crystal prisms (calcite or α-BBO) with the optical axes perpendicular to each other (both calcite and α-BBO are negative uniaxial crystals, where no > ne. Calcite has excellent transmittance in the visible to near-infrared band, while α-BBO exhibits superior optical performance from ultraviolet to mid-infrared band). The prisms are bonded together using the adhesive or the optical contact process. When natural light is incident, both the o-light and e-light are deflected upon emitting, with their polarization directions perpendicular to each other. Their deflection angles are equal. The magnitude of the separation angle is related to the operating wavelength, the material, and the prism wedge angle. LBTEK also offers various customization services, including special dimensions, designed wavelengths, and other specifications.
