LETEK's Rochon Crystal Polarizing Prisms are designed to output linearly polarized light with high extinction ratios. To accommodate different wavelength ranges, LBTEK offers Rochon prisms made from two identical uniaxial birefringent crystals (calcite or α-BBO), with their optical axes oriented perpendicular to each other (no > ne for both materials). Calcite provides excellent transmittance from the visible to the near-infrared, while α-BBO excels from the ultraviolet to the mid-infrared. The prisms are assembled using cementing (for visible/IR) or optical contact (for UV) to support higher-power applications. Upon normal incidence of natural light, the o-ray exits without deviation, while the e-ray is deflected at a specific angle. The two beams possess mutually perpendicular polarization directions, and the separation angle is determined by the operating wavelength, material properties, and prism wedge angle.
