The LBTEK multifocal lens is a diffractive optical element that is sensitive to the polarization state of incident light. It is typically used with a circular polarizer placed in front. When illuminated with circularly polarized light, the laser beam forms multiple focal points with equal energy along the propagation direction after passing through different regions of the multi-focal lens.
When used with a focusing lens, the spacing between focal points can be adjusted, providing greater flexibility in propagation distance. LBTEK can precisely design the phase distribution of the multi-focal lens based on the divergence angles, sizes, and energy distribution of the incident beam.
With submicron-level liquid crystal polymer microstructure alignment, the zero-order diffraction efficiency is suppressed to below 4%. LBTEK offers standard 1-inch multi-focal lenses with optional working wavelengths of 532 nm and 633 nm, featuring 5 focal points and a 50 mm focal spacing. Customized specifications are also supported to meet diverse application requirements. For details, please consult LBTEK Technical Support.
The LBTEK multifocal lens is fabricated on an N-BK7 substrate with a single-layer structure. One side of the substrate is coated with a liquid crystal polymer film, which provides uniform phase retardation across the entire clear aperture, equivalent to half the working wavelength. The other side is coated with an anti-reflection (AR) film, and it is recommended that light enters from the AR-coated side. To ensure uniform energy distribution among the focal points, the incident beam size should match the clear aperture of the multifocal lens. LBTEK can customize liquid crystal multifocal lenses with specific wavelengths, focal lengths, numbers of focal points, and dimensions.
Friendly Reminder:
● This product features a single-layer protective substrate. Please distinguish between the AR-coated side (incident side) and the liquid crystal polymer side—the side indicated by the tip of the "V" marking is the liquid crystal polymer side.
● Avoid any form of physical contact, such as scratching or rubbing, with the liquid crystal polymer side.
● Do not clean the liquid crystal polymer side with alcohol, water, acetone, or similar solvents. For cleaning, prioritize non-contact methods such as using an air gun.
