The LBTEK cascaded grating beamsplitter (Multilayer Grating Beamsplitter, MLGS) is fabricated using N-BK7 glass substrate and liquid crystal polymer (LCP) material. It consists of three layers of 1-inch double-edged substrates coated with LCP layers featuring grating and waveplate structures, making it a single-wavelength device. When the incident light is linearly polarized, the cascaded grating beamsplitter can achieve one-dimensional or two-dimensional quad-splitting functionality based on whether the relative orientations of the grating lines at each level are parallel or perpendicular. The resulting beams are circularly polarized with different rotations, and the splitting angle is related to the grating period at each level. The cascaded grating exhibits high transmittance, and through optimized phase design and precise retardation control. It offers higher splitting efficiency and uniformity compared to typical Dammann grating beamsplitters while maintaining high splitting angle accuracy. LBTEK provides standard products of cascaded grating beamsplitters with working wavelengths λ of 532 nm and 1064 nm, and splitting modes of 1×4 and 2×2. Customization of parameters and specifications is also supported to meet diverse application requirements. For details, please consult LBTEK Technical Support.

Cascaded Grating Beam Splitters, Splitting Mode 1×4
  • The Grating Lines Are Parallel to Each Other, Achieving a One-dimensional 1×4 Beam Splitting Effect
  • Linearly Polarized Light Input, Beam Splitting Uniformity >90% or >93%
  • High Beam Splitting Efficiency, Extremely Low Zero-order Ratio
  • Standard Wavelengths 532 nm and 1064 nm Available
The LBTEK 1×4 cascaded grating beam splitter features a parallel design for the relative position of grating lines between the primary and secondary gratings, enabling one-dimensional 1×4 beam splitting. When the incident light is linearly polarized, it achieves optimal splitting uniformity, ensuring >90% (532 nm) or >93% (1064 nm). It also offers a high effective order ratio with a splitting efficiency of >97%.
