LBTEK Checkerboard Grating (CG) is fabricated on an N-BK7 glass substrate using birefringent liquid crystal polymer (LCP) material, featuring a sandwich structure of "front and rear glass substrates + intermediate LCP functional film layer" without a mechanical housing, with a 1.5-mm single-sided chamfer. In the LCP layer, liquid crystal molecules are arranged in a checkerboard-like pattern, with uniform orientation angles within each pixel cell and a phase difference of π between adjacent pixel cells. The entire device plane exhibits the same λ/2 retardation, making it a single-wavelength device. The checkerboard grating is primarily used to achieve 2×2 uniform beam splitting. Compared to the three-piece cascaded grating structure, the checkerboard grating can achieve 2×2 beam splitting with a single piece, making it easier to integrate. LBTEK offers standard checkerboard gratings with working wavelengths of 532 nm, 633 nm, and 1064 nm, featuring a pixel size of 36×36 μm. Custom parameter specifications are also available to meet diverse application needs. For details, please consult LBTEK technical support.

Checkerboard Grating
  • Optical Element Material: Liquid Crystal Polymer/N-BK7 Window Plates
  • Clear Aperture: 10 mm×10 mm
  • Operating Wavelengths: 532 nm, 633 nm, 1064 nm

LBTEK checkerboard grating is fabricated on N-BK7 window substrates with double-layer structure, featuring a total thickness of 3.2 mm. It provides uniform phase retardation across the entire clear aperture, equivalent to 1/2 of the working wavelength. At the designated wavelength, the phase difference between adjacent pixel cells is π, generating specific diffraction patterns. LBTEK offers various customization services.
