The LBTEK Laser Mode Converter (LMC) is fabricated based on N-BK7 window substrates and Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) materials. It utilizes optical alignment technology to create LCP films with different fast-axis distributions on the glass substrate surface. By precisely controlling the thickness of the LCP film, the phase retardation between the ordinary (o) and extraordinary (e) light passing through the liquid crystal molecules is set to π, making it a single-wavelength device. The LBTEK Laser Mode Converter is a diffractive optical element that transforms the fundamental TEM00 laser mode into higher-order Hermite-Gaussian modes (e.g., TEM10/TEM01 or TEM11) based on its structure and phase distribution. Different structures and phase distributions enable different mode conversions. LBTEK offers standard laser mode converters for TEM00→TEM10/TEM01 and TEM00→TEM11 conversions, with optional working wavelengths of 532 nm, 633 nm, 780 nm, and 1064 nm. Each converter is mounted in a black anodized standard SM1 threaded sleeve, engraved with fast-axis indicators, product model, and specifications for easy identification and use. In addition to standard laser mode converters, LBTEK supports flexible customization of parameters. For specific customization requirements, please contact LBTEK Technical Support.

Mode Converters, TEM00→TEM01/TEM10
  • Optical Element Material: Liquid Crystal Polymer/N-BK7 Window
  • Clear Aperture: Ø21.5 mm
  • From TEM00 Mode to TEM01/TEM10 Mode
The LBTEK mode converter is fabricated on an N-BK7 window substrate with a double-layer structure, featuring a total thickness of 3.2 mm. It provides uniform phase retardation across the entire clear aperture, equivalent to half the working wavelength. The TEM00-TEM01 mode converter divides the glass into two distinct regions, where the fast axes of the two areas are perpendicular to each other with a phase difference of π. The converter is housed in a black anodized standard SM1 sleeve, engraved with the product model and specifications. One end face is marked with a vertical line and a dot: the vertical line indicates the 0° fast-axis direction, while the dot corresponds to the region where the fast axis is parallel to the line. The adjacent region has a fast axis perpendicular to the line (as illustrated in the right figure—the upper region's fast axis is at 0°, and the lower region's is at 90°).

Mode Converters, TEM00→TEM11
  • Optical Element Material: Liquid Crystal Polymer/N-BK7 Window
  • Clear Aperture: Ø21.5 mm
  • Conversion from TEM00 Mode to TEM11 Mode
The LBTEK mode converter is fabricated on an N-BK7 window substrate with a double-layer structure, featuring a total thickness of 3.2 mm. It provides uniform phase retardation across the entire clear aperture, equivalent to half of the operating wavelength. The TEM00-TEM11 mode converter divides the entire glass into four regions. Within each pair of diagonal regions, the fast-axis orientations are aligned, while adjacent regions maintain perpendicular fast-axis orientations with a phase difference of π. The mode converter is housed in a standard black anodized SM1 sleeve, which is engraved with the product model and specifications. One end face is marked with a vertical line and a dot: - The vertical line indicates the 0° fast-axis direction. - The dot corresponds to regions where the fast-axis orientation is parallel to the vertical line, while adjacent regions are perpendicular (as illustrated in the right figure—the upper-right region and its diagonal counterpart have a 0° fast-axis orientation, whereas the upper-left region and its diagonal counterpart have a 90° fast-axis orientation).
