The LBTEK flat-plate cylindrical lens (PB Cylindrical Lens, PBCL) is fabricated on an N-BK7 glass substrate using liquid crystal polymer (LCP) material, featuring a sandwich structure of "front and rear glass substrates with an intermediate LCP functional layer." Within the LCP layer, the fast-axis orientation of the liquid crystal molecules exhibits a continuously graded distribution with a periodically decreasing pattern along the x-axis, maintaining a uniform λ/2 retardation across the entire device plane, making it a single-wavelength component. The flat-plate cylindrical lens possesses polarization-dependent optical characteristics, enabling control over the energy distribution of converging and diverging light spots by manipulating the polarization state of the incident light. Compared to traditional cylindrical lenses, the flat-plate cylindrical lens can function both as a converging lens and a diverging lens. As a flat-structured diffractive device, the diffraction angle of the flat-plate cylindrical lens follows sinθ = λ/p, where θ is the diffraction angle, λ is the design wavelength, and p is the radial period. The continuous variation of the periodic structure endows the flat-plate cylindrical lens with spherical aberration-free properties. All rays passing through the effective aperture diffract at different periodic positions along the x-axis, ensuring that rays on the same x-axis line converge precisely to the same position. The resulting focal spot forms a vertical line perpendicular to the x-axis, with a length matching the original spot diameter. LBTEK offers standard flat-plate cylindrical lenses with clear apertures of Ø21.5 mm, designed for wavelengths of 532 nm, 633 nm, and 1064 nm, and focal lengths of 50 mm and 100 mm. In addition to standard products, LBTEK supports flexible customization of parameters. For specific customization requirements, please contact LBTEK Technical Support.

Flat Plate Cylindrical Lens
  • Optical Element Material: N-BK7/LCP
  • Clear Aperture: Ø21.5 mm
  • Flat Structure, Diffractive Element, no Spherical Aberration
The LBTEK cylindrical plano-convex lens can achieve convergence or divergence of light beams in a single direction. The diffraction effect is designed for a single wavelength, providing the same half-wave retardation across the entire clear aperture without spherical aberration. Manufactured on N-BK7 window substrates with a double-layer structure, the total thickness is 3.2 mm. LBTEK can customize other cylindrical plano-convex lenses with specific wavelengths, focal lengths, and dimensions.
